Anapol Weiss Files New Cases in Roblox MDL Alleging Ongoing Risks to Children from Platform Design

Apr 22, 2026

Summary: New complaints highlight how platform features enable contact between minors and adult predators across gaming and social media platforms. Anapol Weiss has filed new lawsuits in the ongoing Roblox multidistrict litigation, alleging that platform design features on Roblox and Snapchat expose children to sexual exploitation. The cases describe how adult predators use these platforms to contact and groom minors, often moving conversations between apps to escalate abuse. These filings add to broader claims that design choices, including weak age verification and open messaging systems, create ongoing risks for children and highlight the push for greater accountability from technology companies.

Philadelphia, PA (April 22, 2026) – Anapol Weiss has filed two new lawsuits in the federal multidistrict litigation (MDL) against Roblox Corporation and Snap Inc., adding to a growing body of claims that the companies’ platform designs place children at risk of sexual exploitation.

The new complaints, brought on behalf of minor plaintiffs, allege that Roblox and Snapchat incorporate features that allow adult predators to identify, contact, and groom children, often moving seamlessly between platforms.

In one case, a 13-year-old girl was first contacted by adult users while playing the Roblox game “Brookhaven” at age 11 and was later groomed and coerced into sending explicit images after being directed to continue communication on Snapchat. In the other, a 15-year-old girl was targeted by a predator posing as a child through the Roblox game “Just Dance,” who groomed her across Roblox and Snapchat, coerced her into sharing explicit images, and ultimately traveled across state lines to meet her in person.

According to the filings, predators frequently initiate contact on Roblox before shifting interactions to other platforms, often Snapchat, where the abuse escalates. The complaints detail how Roblox’s reliance on self-reported age verification enables adults to misrepresent their identities and bypass safety protections, and its chat and messaging tools facilitate direct communication between minors and unknown adults.

“These cases underscore a central issue in this litigation: platform design,” said Alexandra Walsh, Co-Lead Counsel in the national centralized litigation on behalf of children who suffered sexual exploitation and, in many cases, assault facilitated by these platforms. “When companies build systems that allow adults to easily access and communicate with children, the danger is engineered directly into the product.”

“These filings reinforce what families across the country have been experiencing,” said Patrick Huyett, who leads day-to-day litigation for Anapol Weiss in these matters. “The risks to children are not theoretical. They stem from design choices these companies made, and continue to make, despite clear evidence of harm.”

The cases join the broader federal MDL pending in the Northern District of California, which includes numerous lawsuits alleging that Roblox and other major technology platforms created unsafe environments for children through dangerous design features and a lack of safeguards. Anapol Weiss serves in a leadership role in the litigation and continues to represent families nationwide seeking accountability and systemic changes.
