Roblox is one of the most popular gaming platforms in the world, attracting tens of millions of young users with its free, interactive games. Roblox markets itself as a safe, family-friendly platform for kids. But the truth is far more disturbing. Behind its bright colors and friendly avatars lies a darker truth: Roblox is a hunting ground for online predators. At Anapol Weiss, we are pursuing legal action against Roblox for knowingly allowing predators to use its platform to groom, exploit, and sexually abuse children and doing far too little to stop it.
This is not an accident. This is corporate negligence. Roblox has had every opportunity to implement safeguards and warnings, but instead, it has prioritized profits over child protection.
Today, we’re shining a light on one of the most dangerous corners of the Roblox ecosystem: neighborhood games: roleplay-based games where grooming thrives and Roblox looks the other way.
What Are Neighborhood Games in Roblox and Why Are They So Dangerous??
Neighborhood games in Roblox are those that allow players to “live” in a fictional neighborhood or city. In these games, players can create and customize their own home, drive vehicles, get jobs, and interact with other residents. These games are presented as innocent role-playing opportunities for kids but in reality, they’ve become hunting grounds for predators. Roblox has knowingly enabled this danger by failing to implement meaningful safeguards, enforce proper age restrictions, or moderate harmful content. The result? Children are exposed to strangers, sexually suggestive avatars, and grooming tactics in spaces designed to look playful and safe.
Examples of Neighborhood Games in Roblox
The Neighborhood
A simple search for The Neighborhood on Roblox, yields a ton of different titles, many of which are rife with inappropriate content for young players. In this guide, we’re focusing on one of the most popular: The Neighborhood RP. It’s formerly known as The Neighborhood of Robloxia.
Rated as mild for some light crude humor and violence, The Neighborhood encourages players, many under the age of nine, to choose and furnish their own house, explore vehicles, and create their own user-created outfits to become the “most popular.” Players are also able to create their own dream look, too. The game’s in-game currency even allows users to purchase more outfit slots, opening the door to more provocative customization.
Though The Neighborhood doesn’t offer in-game voice chat, Roblox has allowed chat-based interaction with little real oversight, effectively handing groomers a digital playground.
Welcome to Bloxburg
Home to a little more than 34,000 active players, Welcome to Bloxburg is another one of the most widely-used games in Roblox.
Like The Neighborhood, players can buy and decorate their own homes, customize their wardrobes, roleplay with friends, get a job, earn money, drive, and learn different skills such as cooking. Leveling up skills in the game gives players more access to new items.
However, what seems like innocent game play on the surface is rooted in something much more serious. Welcome to Bloxburg has been reported for alleged sexual roleplaying. Even though the function to kiss isn’t coded in the game, players have allegedly found workarounds to simulate kissing. Plus, avatars have been seen in revealing clothing. The game is listed as a minimal maturity level, meaning players of any age can basically join the server. Even the main game image on Roblox features a player in her bathing suit.
Brookhaven RP
Also listed as suitable for everyone, Brookhaven RP lets players of any age drive cars, live in their own house, and explore the city. However, parents have come forward, alleging violence, firearm use and depictions of drinking and drugs. Furthermore, this game is free to use, so anyone can sign up.
Behind the tagline of the game is “Be whoever you want to be in Brookhaven RP”, Brookhaven RP has become a free-for-all. Parents have reported violence, gun use, drug depictions, and sexual behavior, including stripping and emote-based simulations of sex acts. These are not bugs or rare occurrences; they are known risks that Roblox has failed to address. Groomers exploit these emotes with ease. And since the game is free and accessible to everyone, children are left completely exposed.

Why Groomers Would Target These Games and Why Roblox is Responsible
There are several reasons why groomers would target these popular Roblox games:
Minimal Safeguards and Misleading Ratings
These games are not just accessible to children. They are marketed to them. Roblox has failed to implement proper maturity labels, content warnings, or age-gated controls. As a result, known predators have easy access to children with virtually no barriers. Roblox’s failure to protect its youngest users is not a mere oversight. It’s a gross dereliction of duty..
Encouraged Social Interaction Without Safeguards
Many of these games promote social interaction without verifying age or identity. As such, it’s incredibly easy for an adult to create a fake profile, pose as a child of similar age and strike up a conversation. Though Roblox does have moderators, they are largely ineffective.
Groomers pose as children, strike up conversations, and use subtle manipulated language to bypass Roblox’s woefully inadequate moderation tools. For example, replacing certain letters with a number or symbol to ask inappropriate questions or make suggestive comments.

Role-Playing as a Grooming Tool
The role-play aspect is exactly what makes these games so dangerous. Children are encouraged to pretend to take on new roles, perform tasks, and trust their fellow players. Groomers exploit this trust. They trick young users into thinking sexualized behavior is part of the game or a way to earn rewards. Even worse, they weaponize Roblox’s own emote features to simulate disturbing acts. Roblox has known about these loopholes for years and has done next to nothing to fix them..
