PHILADELPHIA, PA — February 3, 2026 — Over 800 parents from 48 states sent open letters to the boards of directors of Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc. urging the companies to stop trying to force child exploitation and assault lawsuits into private arbitration. The letters claim that forced arbitration silences victims, hides systemic issues, and prevents public accountability.

In the letters, the parents say forced arbitration is being used to attempt to silence children, hide dangerous failures on the platforms, and protect corporations instead of kids. The secrecy of arbitration, the parents emphasized, prevents meaningful accountability by limiting transparency and preventing cases from being heard publicly.

“Secret arbitration only protects corporations, not kids,” added Pat Huyett, partner at Anapol Weiss, the firm coordinating the letter. “Families want their cases to be heard in court so issues can be addressed openly in order to prevent this from happening to more children.”

The parents demand that Roblox and Discord align their practices according to the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act (EFAA), which bars the use of arbitration agreements to prevent survivors from pursuing claims in open court.

With the open letters highlighting multiple instances of emotional, psychological, and physical harms as a result of online grooming and sexual exploitation through these platforms, the parents demand Roblox and Discord cease efforts to compel child sex abuse cases into arbitration.
