WASHINGTON, DC - 09/19/2025: Today, Anapol Weiss announced that a petition for the consolidation of federal lawsuits against the online gaming platform, Roblox, has been filed with the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML).
Despite aggressively marketing itself as child-friendly and safe, Roblox prioritizes user growth and engagement over meaningful protections for kids. The platform’s design has exploded the crisis of child sexual exploitation in the U.S. by making it easy for predators to groom, manipulate, and torment minors. In some cases, the trauma has led to death by suicide.
The petition would centralize the cases, avoiding duplicative pretrial proceedings. Anapol Weiss has already filed nine lawsuits and is investigating many more. The firm says consolidation will ensure efficiency and create a unified approach for holding Roblox accountable.
“These cases against Roblox are remarkably and disturbingly similar. In almost every one, Roblox’s design allowed an adult predator to masquerade as a kid and groom and exploit an innocent child for deviant purposes. These children have been deeply traumatized in virtual spaces marketed as kid-friendly,” said Alexandra Walsh, shareholder at Anapol Weiss. “Consolidation is the most effective way to move these cases forward and address Roblox’s many systemic failures to protect our children.”
National Outcry
The push for consolidation comes amid growing scrutiny of Roblox’s child safety practices. The New York Times recently featured the story of Ethan Dallas, a California teen who took his own life after years of being groomed and exploited. The article is one of many news reports about children harmed by Roblox nationwide, highlighting the growing crisis.
“This litigation is about more than individual cases. It’s about a systemic pattern of exploitation that Roblox has failed to address,” said Pat Huyett, partner at Anapol Weiss. “By bringing these lawsuits together, we can pursue justice for families more effectively.”
